WebCalcs FAQs

Are there any annual fees for WebCalcs?
No, WebCalcs are sold without recurring fees.  There are no additional costs to you.  You will receive all files necessary for your WebCalcs to work from your Web server.

Are WebCalcs hosted on CommonBond's server?
No, WebCalcs are not a hosted service. Your credit union will receive all required files to run them locally on your web server.

How Do I Install WebCalcs?

When you receive your WebCalcs, each one will have an HTML file, one or more CLASS files, a JPG file, and possibly one or more javascript files.  Put all of these files for each WebCalc into the same folder on your web server (or at the root level) and create a link from your website to the HTML file. That's it! You can further customize your WebCalcs within your site by copying the code within the HTML file into your website template.

My credit union does not have a copy of our WebCalc files any longer and needs a copy of the original files?

We can resend you your WebCalcs original files, no matter how long ago you purchased them.
There is a one-time fee of $25 for resending the original files to your credit union.

Can I Customize the HTML Files That Come With the WebCalcs?

The HTML files can be completely customized to fit within the design of your Credit Union Web Site. The only part of the HTML file that is required to make sure they work properly is everything between the APPLET tags (prior to December 26, 2000) or everything between the "DO NOT ALTER CODE BETWEEN THESE LINES" tags (after December 26, 2000).

Can I Customize the graphic image at the top of the WebCalcs?

The image at the top of each WebCalc can be replaced by an image you Web Designer creates and adds to the HTML file, replacing the existing image.

How Do I Change the Background Color of My WebCalcs?

The color of each WebCalc (excluding the Kid's Calculator) can be changed from the HTML file. There are 2 places where the RGB code for the color is located. Find the following code:

<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#dfdfdf">

and

<PARAM NAME="background" VALUE="DFDFDF">

The "dfdfdf" is the color code to change. RGB codes can be obtained from graphics programs like Photoshop.

IMPORTANT: the color code in the <table> tag needs the # sign, but the # sign should be left out of the <PARAM> tag and the code should be ALL CAPS within the <PARAM> tag.

2. After putting the WebCalc files onto your Web Server, make sure that the CLASS file extensions have not been shortened.  They should be ".class".  Some FTP programs will shorten the extension to 3 characters, similar to ".c~1" or similar.  Rename the CLASS files with the proper extensions.

What Web Browsers Are They Compatible With?
